Description
A stunning pair of cylindrical cases, likely used for holding scrolls (patras). These pieces feature exceptional Mughal or Rajasthani miniature style paintings in the center panel, depicting a courtly scene of a couple in traditional attire (yellow and pink/red garments) set against a green background and framed by delicate vine motifs. The rest of the surface is adorned with simple repeating leaf patterns on a cream base. The handle is a single, gracefully carved bone animal figure. The vibrant colors and delicate brushwork of the figures, along with the detailed green border, highlight the rich cultural artistry of the Indian subcontinent.
